Southwestern New Mexico man pleads guilty to sexual abuse charges 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A southwestern New Mexico man has pled guilty to federal sexual abuse charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico says Patrick Wayne Platero, 47, of Nageezi, faces up to life in prison followed by no less than five years, and up to life of supervised release.

Court records show between Jan. 1, 2024 and April 30, 2024, Platero engaged in a sexual act with a Jane Doe without her consent. According to the attorney’s office, Platero is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

The Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Nation Department of Investigation and Department of Criminal Investigations.
