ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police have released new details in the fatal shooting of a man by law enforcement in Española. On Thursday, the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office received a call about larceny at a home in Dixon, New Mexico. The caller said that his son, 32-year-old Zachery Sisneros, stole multiple items from the home, including a gun.
Around 1 p.m., a RASO deputy located a vehicle that Sisneros was in at a Speedway Gas Station in Española. Sisneros drove to a nearby Lowes Home Improvement store, and that’s when RASO and an Ohkay Owingeh Police Department officer made contact with him. They said when he got out of the vehicle, he exited with a rifle. That’s when the deputies and officer opened fire, hitting Sisneros. He died at the hospital. The shooting is under investigation.
