ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man was arrested back on March 31 after attacking someone in northeast Albuquerque. It was only the beginning. The man was aggressive the entire time, even attacking an officer multiple times.
It was Davon Butler’s early morning arrest late last month that ended up being a handful for officers. He didn’t want to answer any of their questions or say who he was and only demanded to talk to his lawyer.
After taking him to APD’s identification lab, Butler refused to listen. Once police found out his name and criminal history, including six arrests in New Mexico since 2022, Butler was taken to APD’s prisoner transport center, where his aggression continued.
Butler: Hey dude, don’t f***ing push me. I’ll headbutt your dumbass.
Officer: Don’t pull away from me.
Butler: If you hit, I’ll headbutt you right now. I will break your f***ing nose.
While waiting in a holding cell, Butler paced and shouted for more than half an hour before the officer came to transport him to MDC. Butler’s attack continued, doing exactly what he said he would do.
Butler can be seen headbutting the officer two more times before even getting to the door. He wasn’t finished there. He gave the officer two more headbutts and attempted to spit on him. Butler then tried to grab the officer’s tazer.
Butler has a hearing scheduled for his battery case on Tuesday. He is being held on these charges. He’s facing five charges for assault and battery on a peace officer, as well as charges for disarming a peace officer, attempted escape, and resisting arrest for attacking the officer.
