NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Smokey Bear Historical Park is hosting its annual Smokey Bear Days event in Capitan, New Mexico. The two-day family friendly event celebrates Smokey Bear and emphasizes his message of preventing wildfires.

May 2 and 3 attendees can enjoy a variety of events and activities including a parade and cornhole tournaments. There event also features a firefighter challenge and presentations inside the museum. The event runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. “We’re always excited to host this event celebrating Smokey and his message that ‘only you can prevent wildfires,'” Smokey Bear Historical Park Manager Mary Lavin said in a release.
The event is free to attend. People of all ages are encouraged to attend to meet Smokey, learn about wildland fire prevention, firefighting, natural resource conservation, wildlife and more. For a full schedule of events, click here.
