New Mexico police arrest Nevada murder suspect

LORDSBURG, N.M. (KRQE) — A homicide suspect wanted for murder in Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested in southwestern New Mexico. Dedrick Patterson, 51, was taken into custody in Lordsburg, according to New Mexico State Police.

Officers were given a “License Plate Recognition” alert for an armed and dangerous homicide suspect at about 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Patterson had an active arrest warrant out for murder with a deadly weapon issued by the North Las Vegas Police Department that same day.

He was believed to be driving a 2023 Jeep Cherokee with a Nevada license plate. That Jeep set off an alert system west of Lordsburg on I-10, sending a BOLO out to local agencies.

Officers with New Mexico State Police and Lordsburg Police Department found the Jeep at a Maverik convenience store near exit 20. Officers found Patterson and arrested him. He will be held in New Mexico before being extradited to Nevada.
