ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — The City of Albuquerque is looking for some lifeguards. Here’s what you need to know if you’re interested in becoming one.
Lifeguard positions offer work opportunities year-round at swimming pools across the city. You can work outdoors in the summer and inside during the winter. The city offers flexible scheduling for students while teaching them various skills that could be relevant for their future careers.
Most importantly, becoming a lifeguard allows you to serve the community by ensuring pool safety and maybe even saving lives. You could also go on to teach swimming lessons, as the city provides training to lifeguards.
Here are the requirements provided by the city:
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First-Aid/AED Certification
- Must be at Least 15 Years Old; 15-Year-Olds are Required to Have a Work Permit
- Must Pass an Aquatics Lifeguard Skills Test
If you can’t swim, the aquatics department is also looking for cashiers and laborers. You can learn more on the City of Albuquerque website.
