NM man convicted of child sex crimes by Lordsburg jury

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 33-year-old New Mexico man was found guilty of child sex crimes by a Lordsburg, New Mexico jury, the Office of the Sixth Judicial District Attorney announced.

Eric Dominguez, 33, of Lordsburg, was found guilty of one count of criminal sexual penetration (first degree) and one count of false imprisonment (fourth degree), the DA’s Office said.

Sentencing for Dominguez will be held at a later date.

On May 16, 2023, a Hildago County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a Lordsburg Municipal School regarding a child victim who reported a sexual assault. The DA’s Office said the victim told her teacher she was assaulted. The victim was 10 years old at the time of the crime, the DA’s Office added.

A forensic interview was done and at trial, expert testimony was given by a sexual assault nurse examiner, the DA’s Office said.

The jury deliberated for 20 minutes, the DA’s Office said.

“We take great care when dealing with such young victims of any type of crime, especially sex crimes. Our victims’ advocates and legal prosecution team were a tremendous help with the victim and her legal guardians throughout the judicial process,” District Attorney Norman R. Wheeler said.
