Hours before the game, long lines of fans waited in anticipation for Opening Day of the 2025 season. Stewart and his grandson Julian were two of the first 2,500 people who braved the windy weather to get a free isotopes beanie. “I know the weather’s nuts. But it’s okay, we wanted to get it, we wanted to be here,” said Stewart.
The duo said it’s a yearly tradition to come out for the first home game of the season. “I’m currently 13 and I’ve been going to these games all the way since I was three years old,” said Julian.
A new year means new additions. “The staff works tirelessly to improve the fan experience and to elevate the experience for people coming to the game, whether it’s concession improvement, whether it’s an amenity at the ballpark that’s improved whether it’s a new line of merchandise in the store or promotions or you know like this year we’re bringing in a drone show that we’ve never done before,” said John Traub, Isotopes General Manager.
And they do it all for the fans. “It’s tremendously humbling to have the type of fans that we have. The fact that we’ve led the league in attendance each of the last three years, the fact that later on this season we’re going to have fan number 12 million come through the gates in only 22 seasons, it’s really something special,” said Traub.
Cold and windy temperatures did not stop fans from being excited about Tuesday’s game.
“It’s going to be a bit windy this week, I know but you know what fans have been waiting for a long time for baseball to return, and it’s finally upon us,” said Traub.
The opening series will continue the rest of this week, ending on Sunday. To learn more about when the Isotopes play, click this link.
