ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jesus Chacon Morales, one of three suspects in the 2014 stabbing death of woman in the South Valley, was sentenced in court Tuesday.
Morales, Jose Lopez and Juan Solis kidnapped Idali Reyes in 2014. Solis said Lopez stabbed the victim while they drove around before eventually dumping her body. According to BCSO, Lopez and Solis were arrested shortly after, but Morales fled to Mexico. Authorities were eventually able to find Morales and he was extradited back to New Mexico in 2024.
Morales pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and Judge Courtney Weaks sentenced him to ten years behind bars. Lopez pleaded not contest to kidnapping and conspiracy charges in 2018 and was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. Solis had died, so his charges were dropped.
