Japanese retailer Daiso sets opening date for first Albuquerque store

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Japanese value retailer Daiso is expanding its footprint in New Mexico by opening its first store in Albuquerque.

Daiso’s new store is set to open Saturday at the Cottonwood Commons, 3601 Old Airport Rd NW D, in the North Valley. The shop will sell Japanese-inspired home decor, kitchenware, beauty products, stationery, snacks, and other items.

“Thanks to the enthusiasm of our loyal customers, we’re excited to expand in New Mexico,” John Clarke, chief development officer for Daiso USA, stated in a news release. “We continue to see growing demand in the region, and we’re proud to be opening more stores in 2025. With 185 stores now operating across the U.S., we’re excited to serve new communities and bring the Daiso experience to even more customers.”

Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Daiso opened its first New Mexico location in Santa Fe in January. That store is slightly bigger, coming in at 9,438 square feet, compared to the Albuquerque location, which spans 9,268 square feet.
