ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Jury selection is underway for the second trial against a former Albuquerque police officer accused of falsely keeping a disabled man against his will. In 2022, Matthew McManus was attempting to buy a bike at the Target on Coors Blvd. when Officer Kenneth Skeens arrested him after taking too long.
The first trial ended with a hung jury. They couldn’t determine if the target ordered the officer to take the man off their property or not. Skeens pled not guilty to false imprisonment, perjury, and more. His trial is scheduled to last all week.
