NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A bill strengthening protections for kids in New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department care is heading to the governor’s desk. On Monday, the House of Representatives passed House Bill 5 which would create an Office of Child Advocacy within the New Mexico Department of Justice to oversee CYFD.
Last week, the Senate passed the bill and now it heads to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s desk for final action.
