Rain and snow showers are moving into western and northern New Mexico this morning. Snow is falling as far south as I-10 in southwest New Mexico with a few flurries in the Albuquerque Metro as well. More isolated, but widespread, rain and mountain snow showers will develop this afternoon. Accumulations of rain and snow will be light. Northwest winds will be breezy to locally windy today, with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Temperatures will stay cool today but warm up Sunday afternoon as sunny, dry, and calmer weather returns.
Winds start picking up again Monday as another storm system moves towards New Mexico. Monday will also be the warmest day next week thanks to the wind. The storm will move into the state Tuesday, bringing southwest wind gusts as high as 60 mph. This will again cause areas of blowing dust and a high fire danger Tuesday afternoon. Spotty rain and snow showers will move through the northern half of the state. Temperatures will also fall again into the middle of next week with warmer weather returning again Thursday.
