Navajo Prep girls win back-to-back championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Navajo Prep is once again the top of the class in girls 3A. The Lady Eagles defeated West Las Vegas 52-43 to claim the trophy.

Navajo Prep earned the title of champion by way of a 4th quarter comeback. The Lady Dons led the game by seven with 7:44 remaining. Navajo Prep then outscored WLV 18-2 the rest of the way.

“It’s definitely been a journey,” said Navajo Prep head coach Rainy Crisp. “The main thing I was trying to get across to them is enjoy this journey. Yeah we have our ups and downs, every team does, and some teams don’t bounce back from that. These girls did a really good job of coming together at the right time, finding what their roles are and bringing home this blue trophy.”

Leilani Wood led Navajo Prep in both points and rebounds. She had 12 and 9, respectively.

The win marks the 9th championship for the Navajo Prep girl’s program
