NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Check out community events around New Mexico from March 14 to 20.

Albuquerque

  • March 14-15 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.
  • March 14-16 Rio Grande Spring Fest – This event will bring together over 150 talented artists and makers, showcasing a curated selection of handcrafted works, fine art, home décor, specialty food, live music, and fun for the whole family.
  • March 15 DGM Winter Market – The Downtown Growers’ Market brings together the best of the community’s local growers, artisans, wellness creators, and food vendors. Shoppers will find an array of winter delights, from fresh local honey and farm-fresh eggs to winter vegetables and handcrafted goods. The market is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • March 15 St. Patrick’s Day Vendor Market – Join Hollow Spirits New Mexico for a fun-filled day of local shopping, community vibes, and festive cheer. This event is from 12 to 5 p.m.
  • March 15 Youth Job Fair – The free event, hosted in partnership with the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is open to high school students and young adults looking for part-time, summer, or entry-level job opportunities. The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center.
  • March 15-16 Expo New Mexico Flea Market – Come check out the food, vendors, and live entertainment at New Mexico’s largest open-air market. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $2 for walk-ups and $10 per car for parking.
  • March 17-21 CABQ Spring Break Activities – Community centers in Albuquerque are hosting several events for kids on spring break. A total of 18 centers have planned onsite activities and budget-friendly field trips with free lunch and snacks from March 17 to March 21.
  • March 18 Music Bingo – Enjoy food, drinks, and friendly competition at Flock of Moons, every Tuesday at 7 p.m.
  • March 18 Open Mic Night in Old Town – Calling all singers, comedians, and performers. Join The Taproom in Old Town Albuquerque for an all-night happy hour, discounted appetizers, and some great performances on the patio stage. This event is every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • March 20 Ancora and Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative Open Mic – Every Thursday night is Open Mic at Ancora Cafe and Bakery where music and sound is the focus of the evening. The event is from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

New Mexico

  • March 14-16 Inkers Tattoo Expo – With vendor booths, an Ink Master artist, and other top artists from all over the U.S., the Carlsbad Civic Center will be hosting a great show all weekend.
  • March 15 Spring Gardening Workshop – Join Las Cruces Public Libraries and learn about seed saving, why it’s so important, and how to save seeds for future use. From 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., there will be activities for all ages.
  • March 15 Officer Justin Hare 5K Run/Walk – New Mexico State Police will honor an officer killed in the line of duty with a memorial run in Tucumcari. Registration will be held from 8 to 9:45 a.m. with the run/walk starting at 10 a.m.
  • March 15 Otero County Farmer’s Market – Check out the only year-round farmers market in the area with many local farmers, crafters, bakers, and more exclusively from Otero County. This event occurs every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
  • March 15 Coronado Historic Site Cleanup – Volunteers are needed to help with a site cleanup in the bosque at Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tasks will include weeding, debris removal, basic trail maintenance, and other tasks as needed. Volunteers can drop in at any time during the day to assist. Lunch, snacks, and bottled water will be provided for all volunteers.
  • March 15-16 Spring Arts & Crafts Show – Visit the Clovis Civic Center for a spring arts and crafts show. The Saturday event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Sunday event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
  • March 15-16 Yucca Blossom Trade Days Shamrock Showcase – Enjoy a weekend of shopping with a variety of unique vendors at the Ruidoso Convention Center. The event is free, but donations are accepted at the door to help a local family in need. The showcase runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
  • March 16 Truth or Consequences: The LIVE! Game Show – From 1 to 3 p.m., put your trivia skills to the test and face some fun consequences while competing for cash prizes and Fiesta memorabilia. Three lucky contestants will be chosen at the El Cortez Theater. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $12 advance general admission and $15 at the door.
  • March 16 Organ Mountain Sunday Market – The newest market in town takes place off Highway 70 in Las Cruces. Come check out weekly vendors, food trucks, retailers, and more for themed markets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • March 19 Small Business Finance Fair – Businesses in Santa Fe are getting the opportunity at a first-of-its-kind finance fair. The event will connect entrepreneurs with active venture capital funds and resource providers. The finance fair will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Albuquerque Notices

🔶 ABQ BioPark offering lessons on local plant life – The ABQ BioPark is hosting an event later this month for anyone who wants to learn more about our local wildlife. On March 22, BioPark staff will be at the Botanic Garden, teaching visitors specifically about the plants that are growing in our backyards.

🔶 Adult STEM night at the Nuclear History Museum – The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is hosting its Discovery After Dark Adult STEM Night on Friday, April 11 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

🔶 City of Albuquerque gives new look at Wells Park expansion – A major transformation of a park in the downtown Albuquerque area is nearing completion.

🔶 City of Albuquerque launches 311 survey – The City of Albuquerque is asking community members for input on how the 3-1-1 service can better serve the community.

🔶 NM attorney general alleges business defrauded hundreds of residents – New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced a lawsuit Tuesday, March 11, against an Albuquerque company and its owners, alleging that they defrauded hundreds of New Mexico consumers across the state for home remodeling work that was never completed.

🔶 Lawmakers look at how to manage property if state fairgrounds are moved –  While the governor considers moving the fairgrounds out of the International District in Albuquerque, lawmakers are now working on a plan for how to structure what could be a once-in-a-generation redevelopment. 

🔶 New lights installed at Jerry Cline Tennis Facility in Albuquerque – Albuquerque’s largest tennis complex just got a whole lot brighter. The City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department recently finished installing new, energy-efficient LED lighting at the Jerry Cline Tennis Facility near Louisiana Blvd. and I-40.

🔶 Sandia National Laboratory researchers work to reduce plastic pollution – Sandia National Labs is working on new research that would allow plastics to self-destruct once they are no longer useful.

🔶 Albuquerque Isotopes reveal new ‘City Roots’ alternate identity – The Albuquerque Isotopes revealed its newest alternate identity. The ‘City Roots’ series ties in the history and culture of the community and pays homage to the origin of Albuquerque’s name.

🔶 Santa Fe County giving free trees to kids for Earth Day – Santa Fe County is helping kids celebrate Earth Day next month by giving them a free tree to plant. The county is partnering with Minneapolis-based non-profit Neighborhood Forest, which is giving away free trees to 100,000 kids across the United States, including in New Mexico.

🔶 New Mexico honoring historic women with markers around the state – The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs is encouraging New Mexicans to celebrate Women’s History Month by visiting one of the historical markers honoring a remarkable woman.

🔶 Groups to host free training in New Mexico on how to spot human trafficking – An event to train people on how to stop and spot signs of human trafficking will be held in Mescalero in April.

🔶 Lawmakers receive feedback on bill that would cap medical malpractice lawyers’ fees – Where are all the primary care physicians in New Mexico and why are residents traveling out of state to get the care they need? Lawmakers are tackling these questions with a controversial bill.

🔶 New Mexico lawmakers push for anonymity in Safe Haven Baby Box cases – Safe haven boxes give parents who can’t care for their newborns a place to surrender them and now lawmakers are hoping to pass legislation to clarify procedures and protect the parent’s anonymity.

🔶 Officials expect low spring runoff along the Rio Grande – It’s shaping up to be a tough year for farmers who rely on New Mexico’s water supply for irrigation. The Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District said the water available from spring runoff this year is about half of what they see in an average year.
