ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – St. Pius X and Portales met in the Pit on Tuesday for the quarterfinal round of the girls 4A tournament. The Rams went on to win 38-34.
The tightly contested matchup featured ten lead changes and four ties. The Rams were able to pull away at the end thanks to 23 forced turnovers.
Evannie Fulfer and Angel Ornelas each recorded double-digits in scoring for Portales. Fulfer led the game with nine rebounds.
St. Pius guard Catalina Anaya led the game with 21 points.
Portales will now play in the semi-final round at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The game will be against the winner of Gallup and Deming.
