ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Defense was on full display early in Tuesday afternoon’s 4A quarterfinal between second ranked Gallup and seven seeded Deming. Gallup only allowed two first quarter and eight first half points. That proved to be the difference as Gallup won the game 58-38.
Deming scored the first field goal of the game. Gallup then went on a 19-0 run. The Lady Bengals were then in control the rest of the way.
The Bengals were led by Rylie Whitehair. She finished the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Some other notable stats include 31 turnovers by the Wildcats and 13 more free throw attempts by the Bengals than Deming.

With the win, Gallup is on to the semi-final round. The Lady Bengals will play Portales on Thursday at 8 a.m.
