City of Albuquerque gives new look at Wells Park expansion

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A major transformation of a park in the downtown Albuquerque area is nearing completion.

The City of Albuquerque on Monday shared an update and a new photo of the expansion of Wells Park near 5th and Mountain. The park now has a new playground with slides and climbing features, shade structures, exercise equipment, and wood fiber on the ground.

Once the work is complete, the park will also include multi-sport courts, a dog park, and a food truck plaza.

The park is set to open this spring. The city bought the downtown property in 2020, and the almost $8 million expansion project broke ground in 2023.
