Celebrating ‘The Year of Coop’ with Lakers legend Michael Cooper 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The former college University of New Mexico Lobo turned LA Lakers great, Michael Cooper, joins KRQE Sports Director, Van Tate, to talk about what Cooper’s son calls “The Year of The Coop.” This year, the five-time NBA Champion will be celebrating the 40-year anniversary of the LA Lakers beating the Boston Celtics, the Lakers retiring his jersey, Number 21, and being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The champion coach also dives into the changes that compensated college players bring to the game, the pros and cons of the NCAA transfer portal, and what he loves about being an Assistant Coach at Cal State LA now.
