Another storm moves in late this week

Calmer weather will briefly return to New Mexico Wednesday. Another storm will move into the state late this week bringing more high winds with higher chances for rain and snow.

High winds continued parts of New Mexico Monday night into today. Clayton even had wind gusts up to nearly 80 mph earlier today. Several places across eastern New Mexico again measured gusts up to 60 mph this morning into the afternoon with Dust Storm Warnings around the Roswell area. Wind direction today has been out of the northwest, keeping cooler temperatures in place across the state as well. Winds are already beginning to calm down this evening. Calmer weather will return statewide Wednesday as temperatures climb back above average for this time of year.

Strong winds return all across New Mexico Thursday afternoon as another storm moves into the state. It could be a bit of a repeat of what we saw Monday with southwest winds gusting as high as 45 to 65 mph, causing blowing dust and a high fire danger. The late week storm system will bring better moisture with it. Spotty rain and mountain snow will move into western and northern New Mexico Thursday. More rain and snow will move into the state from the southwest Friday as winds will start dying down. A cold front will sweep across the state Friday evening dropping snow levels down to valley floors by early Saturday morning. This is bringing an increase chance for snow in the Albuquerque Metro Saturday morning, along with northern and eastern parts of New Mexico.

Quieter weather will return again by Saturday night with calm conditions on Sunday. Warmer weather will also return through the middle of next week with breezier winds making their way back in starting next Tuesday.
