UPDATE: Ruidoso High School has been “thoroughly inspected by authorities” and cleared of any threats, Ruidoso Municipal Schools said. Classes will resume on Wednesday, March 5.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – All Ruidoso High School students, faculty, and staff were evacuated to the Ruidoso Convention Center due to an incident on Tuesday, March 4, the Ruidoso Municipal Schools announced on its Facebook page.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. We are currently working closely with local authorities and following established protocols to ensure that the school environment remains secure. The Ruidoso Police Department had been notified and is assessing the threat,” read a letter from the Ruidoso Municipal Schools Superintendent Becca Ferguson.

Parents of high school students can pick them up at the Ruidoso Convention Center. Parents should go to the front door and have a photo ID ready, Ruidoso Municipal Schools said.

Ferguson added that students and staff will be able to return to the school once Ruidoso PD clears the scene.

Parents are encouraged to contact Ruidoso PD or school authorities immediately if they have any concerns or information that may assist in the situation, Ferguson said.
