ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico United has brought in a reinforcement for its back line. On Thursday the club announced the signing of defender Jaylin Lindsey.
Lindsey comes to New Mexico after spending the last seven seasons in Major League Soccer. For the past three seasons he played for FC Charlotte. Prior to that he was with Sporting Kansas City where he became the first player born in the 2000’s to play in MLS.
“We are very excited to welcome Jaylin to the United family,” said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “His resume and skillset speak for themselves, and we can’t wait to see what he will do in Black & Yellow.”
“I know most of these guys already, playing with them or playing against them and I have heard good things about (head coach Dennis Sanchez),” said Lindsey. “So, it’s an attraction that brought me to the club as well. So, I am settling in pretty well and pretty quickly.”
In total, Lindsey has more than 130 professional matches across MLS, USL-C, US Open Cup, Leagues Cup and CONCACAF Champions League. He won the CONCACAF U-20 title with Sporting Kansas City in 2018/2019, and played for the United States in the U-17 World Cup in 2017.
New Mexico United has one preseason match remaining before the regular season opener in Sacramento on Saturday, March 8.
