Albuquerque Fire Rescue welcomes 16 new firefighters

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The city and the Albuquerque Fire Rescue chief welcomed Albuquerque’s newest firefighters. The department celebrated the 16 graduating members of the AFR’s 103rd Cadet Class on Thursday morning. The cadets received their helmets and had their badges pinned.

“You have trained relentlessly, faced challenges, head out and proven you are ready to serve and today you have earned the right to wear a badge not as a symbol of authority but a commitment to something greater than yourself,” said AFR Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo.

The department also recognized the crews that rescued a civilian from a house fire last month near Wyoming Blvd. and Constitution Ave.
