ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For the first time this season the University of New Mexico men’s basketball has lost two games in a row. The Mountain West leading Lobos fell at San Diego State 73-65 Wednesday night.
The Lobos shot 34% for the game as they struggled making baskets. UNM went into halftime trailing 33-29. At that point in the game Nelly Junior Joseph was held to only one point while Tru Washington went into the half scoreless.

Nelly finished the game with 6 points and 16 rebounds. Washington only scored 2 points the entire game. Donovan Dent had nine points by the break and finished the game with a team high 26 points. Freshman Jovan Milicevic was the only other Lobo to score in double figures with 16 points, going 4 of 6 from the three point line. San Diego State had four players in double figures led by Nick Boyd’s 17 points.
The Lobos are now 14-3 in league play and 22-6 overall. The Lobos have the same conference record as second place Utah State, but hold the tiebreaker. Colorado State is third, they too, like Utah State, were swept by the Lobos. At 12-5 San Diego State is fourth in the Mountain West. UNM is back on the floor Saturday to host Air Force. The game at The Pit has a noon start time.
