Francisco Reyes-Merlos crashed a car during a street race, killing Travis Dehart and injuring Dehart’s then-15-year-old daughter. Police say Reyes-Merlos was going 90 mph on Montgomery when he broadsided the father and daughter while she was learning to drive.

He was sentenced to prison. However, Judge Britt Baca-Miller let him walk out the door of the hearing with a promise that he’d turn himself back in to go to prison.

Reyes-Merlos is described by authorities as being six feet tall, approximately 230 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has “Reyes” tattooed on his left arm and “LA” on his right arm.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Reyes-Merlos is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 505-843-STOP (7867) or p3tips.com/531.
