AmeriCorps and City of Albuquerque honor volunteers

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – AmeriCorps and the City of Albuquerque are recognizing volunteers for their years of dedication and service in the community. The federal agency’s Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program helps place thousands of volunteers with organizations looking to make a difference in New Mexico.

The city awarded 53 of those long-serving volunteers with pins on Friday. Officials said no act of service is too big or too small. “Bring joy to folks, bring connection, bring inspiration, bring comfort, and bring help and knowledge to folks that need it,” said First Lady Elizabeth Keller, City of Albuquerque.

Americorp said Friday’s event celebrated volunteers who have served anywhere from five to 40 years.
