NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Local leaders and advocates are calling for stronger statewide protections for immigrant communities.

At a press conference, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, Archbishop John Wester and immigrant rights advocates emphasized local policies that protect sensitive personal information and prevent the use of local resources for federal immigration enforcement. Advocates are now pushing for two bills that will be introduced this legislative session that would extend these protections across New Mexico.
