City of Albuquerque holds vote on top goat of bosque cleanup crew

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque is asking residents to cast a vote regarding some very important employees: the goats of Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch. The goats have been hard at work finishing up a cleanup project in the bosque.

The “small and efficient workers” have been hired to eat up some invasive plants in the bosque, helping to mitigate the spread of wildfires. Now, the city wants community members to vote to determine the “head honcho” of the heard. Here is a look at some of the goats involved:

  • "Lilly is otherwise known (to us) as big momma. She's mothered about a dozen of the goats in the herd. She's also famous for her large horns." - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch
  • "Dapple Girl is sassy and beautiful. She's easy to spot thanks to her spots." - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch
  • "Laurie is a sweetheart! She was a bottle baby and loves humans. Often the favorite of folks at Galloping Goats because she loves to rub against humans begging for pets and love." - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat
  • "James Bond was named because of his ear tag -- 007. He's nice and loves to come and say hello!" - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch
  • "Not Mustard has one of the silliest names in the group. He's extremely friendly and a fan favorite because of his unique name." - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch
  • "Lefty is a cutie with his speckles and blue eyes. He's named for his one left horn." - courtesy of the City of Albuquerque and Galloping Goat Pumpkin Patch
