ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Currently in first place and riding a six-game win streak, the UNM men’s basketball team returns to the Pit on Wednesday night against Wyoming.
“I think there is some momentum going on right now,” said UNM head coach Richard Pitino. “I think everybody sees it and it’s just a will to win. I just think this team right now has got a great burning desire to win and they will do whatever it takes.”
When the Lobos and Cowboys first met last month, UNM required a second-half comeback to win. Since then, it has been a trend where New Mexico has found success in the second half of games. In each of its last four games, UNM has scored at least 50 second half points.
“I just think that our pace and tempo that we’re playing, it exhausts teams and the majority of them just give up at the end of the game,” UNM forward Filip Borovicanin said. “Other teams can’t keep up with that tempo.”
UNM and Wyoming tipoff from the Pit on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FS1.
