$1.4M in cocaine seized at Eagle Pass border bridge

McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — More than $1.4 million worth of cocaine was seized in a single enforcement action on Thursday at an international bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.

The drugs were confiscated from a tractor-trailer and found inside the fuel tank as it tried to cross the Camino Real International Bridge, which leads from Piedras Negras, Mexico, to Eagle Pass, CBP officials said.

The truck was sent to secondary inspection where CBP officers say drug-sniffing dogs and officers found 42 packages containing 108 pounds of cocaine hidden in the truck.

“Our frontline officers continue to maintain rigorous vigilance and that dedication coupled with non-intrusive inspection system technology yielded this significant cocaine seizure,” Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie said.
