Man dies after falling from cliff in Organ Mountains 

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 63-year-old man is dead after falling from a cliff on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in the Organ Mountains east of Las Cruces, the New Mexico State Police said.

At about 1:40 p.m., the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority received a call from someone asking for help before the line was disconnected, State Police said.

Search and rescue was initiated at about 2 p.m.

The location of the caller was pinging east of Ladera Canyon Road, State Police said.

At about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, a 63-year-old man was found dead in the area.

The initial investigation shows that he fell from a cliff that appeared to be about 20 feet, State Police said.

At this time, foul play is not suspected.
