Man pleads no contest to 2021 Albuquerque murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of a 2021 Albuquerque murder took a plea deal in court Thursday, pleading no contest to a second degree murder charge.

Police say Dylan Wolfe shot and killed Edward Purviss III in a motel room in northeast Albuquerque in April 2021. Detectives said that Wolfe owed Purviss money for drugs and set up another purchase to kill Purviss. Police say interviews with associates, cell phone and social media data helped them conclude Wolfe was at the hotel at the time of the shooting.

Police said he made the following searches on his phone:

  • “Can a pillow muffle a 9 millimeter?”
  • “What percentage of murders go unsolved?”
  • “Where can I sell my gun?”
  • “How loud is a gunshot in a hotel?”

As per Wolfe’s sentencing agreement, Judge Courtney Weaks sentenced Wolfe to eight years behind bars.
