BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Open Space Units teamed up with Bernaliilo County Solid Waste to remove abandoned vehicles in the mesa.

The sheriff’s office said the vehicles were stolen. The solid waste team used their equipment to help recover vehicles in areas that were previously inaccessible to tow trucks.
BCSO also said some of the vehicles have been stuck in the mesa for years, creating environmental and safety concerns.
