WalletHub ranks New Mexico worst state to raise a family 

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – WalletHub recently released its rankings for Best and Worst States to Raise a Family 2025 and New Mexico ranks at the bottom of the list. WalletHub compared each state across 50 key metrics including, median family income, crime rate, school quality, heath care quality and more.

According to WalletHub’s rankings, New Mexico is ranked as the worst place to raise a family. New Mexico was ranked 50th overall; last in median family income, tied for last in violent crimes per capita, and near the bottom of the list in other categories like child care costs, percentage of families in poverty and separation/divorce rate.
