NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The snow will be wrapping up across central New Mexico later this afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures stay cold today, but will warm up throughout the week.

Snow and flurries are continuing to fall across central New Mexico this afternoon. This snow will increase the totals we saw fall over the weekend. Roads are already beginning to see the impacts. NM 536 @ MM14 the roads are completely covered in snow. Looking up north to Bobcat Pass snow is piling up alongside the roads. This snow will likely begin to melt as the state warms up through the afternoon. The roads could become icy as temperatures drop overnight. The snow this afternoon is expected to stop falling by the evening.
A Rex Block will form over the Pacific on Wednesday. The resulting wind flow will bring slightly warmer weather to New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday, ridging will become the main flow over New Mexico. The ridging brings sinking air and further warms up temperatures.
Over the weekend, another storm system is expected to move into New Mexico. This system has the possibility of bringing more snowfall to the state. The areas with the highest chances of seeing snow are northern and eastern New Mexico. However, as we are still a week out from this storm, snow location and totals could change.
