ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The women’s version of the Rio Grande basketball rivalry goes to the visitors. New Mexico State defeated the University of New Mexico Lobo women’s basketball team 81-71 Friday night. Molly Kaiser scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Aggies attack.
UNM got 18 points from Viane Cumber and 15 from Destinee Hooks. Alyssa Hargrove was the only other Lobo in double figures. With the loss, the Lobos fall to 5-4. The Aggies are 5-3. The two teams will play the second and final game of their season series on Sunday in Las Cruces at 2 p.m.
