Areas of fog developed overnight around the Sacramento Mountains and along the east slopes of the Sandias/Manzanos out to Santa Rosa. A Freezing Fog Advisory is also in place this morning, which could cause a few icy spots to start the day. A few spotty showers are moving through southeastern New Mexico to start the day. These spotty showers will move out by noon. Drier weather returns starting Saturday afternoon, along with warmer weather. Temperatures will be even warmer on Sunday as westerly winds increase across the state.
A fast moving storm system will move into New Mexico next Monday. Precipitation with this storm continues to trend downward, with the best chance for snow in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Light snow will also be likely across the peaks of the rest of the northern mountains. Snow totals will be light with only up to 3″ at most. A few flurries to a dusting of snow is also possible across the I-25 corridor in northern New Mexico and east-central New Mexico. Temperatures will be colder too on Tuesday afternoon as drier air moves in. The coldest air of the season will move in Wednesday morning.
A warming trend will begin Wednesday afternoon though with sunny and dry weather sticking around through the end of next week. Temperatures will be back up to around average again for this time of year by nest Thursday.
