Car Seat inspection clinics held around New Mexico

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Transportation is sponsoring car seat inspection clinics on Saturday, September 21 from 9 – 11 a.m. at 11 different locations across the state.

I-25 construction zone in Albuquerque sees 22 crashes in 34 days

The event educates parents and caregivers about the importance of properly securing children in the correct car seat. Certified child passenger safety technicians will work with parents and caregivers for about 30 minutes per seat to educate on how to properly select and use car seats. No appointments are necessary to have car seats inspected, services will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

People are asked to bring their car seats, car seat manuals, vehicle manuals, and the child that sits in the car seat, if possible. Replacement seats will be available if a technician determines the car seat is expired, recalled or unsafe. Services are free, but a $35 fee may apply if a seat needs to be replaced.
