NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — The election is just a couple of months, and the Santa Fe County clerk is a trailblazer in making sure it’s secure.
The National Association of Election Officials awarded the clerk for its first-of-a-kind program.
Project Bruno is designed to protect election tabulators from physical theft, tampering, and unforeseen disruptions. It utilizes GPS tracking and uninterruptible power supplies to ensure continuous security.
County Clerk Katharine Clark stressed election integrity is their highest priority, saying, “Project Bruno is a testament to our strive for excellence: maintaining secure, transparent, and accountable elections.”
This is the first time the organization has awarded the state.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology currently ranks New Mexico as the best in election administration.
