ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Community Safety now has a permanent presence downtown.
The department opened a new office Tuesday at the Alvarado Transportation Center at First Street and Central Avenue, giving staff a new location to respond to mental health crises and nonviolent conflicts efficiently.
City leaders say they chose the location because of the high call volume and the number of people in need who pass through the area. “We know in general, we need one in every four quadrants. With this, we’ll have two. And so we have to work on at least a westside location, which I know is in the works,” said Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller.
This new office comes months after ACS opened its headquarters on San Mateo Boulevard near Kathryn Avenue.
