SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico State Police reported a boy died while camping with his family. It happened on Saturday around 5 p.m.
According to NMSP, dogs belonging to the group ran onto New Mexico Road 63. A vehicle heading north stopped for the dogs and drove away when they were taken off the road.
However, a 3-year-old boy had been standing by the vehicle, and the driver claimed they didn’t see the child before driving off. The boy was hit by the vehicle and died.
No charges have been filed as of 1 p.m. on Monday.
