It will be another dry and hot day across New Mexico. Spotty mountain storms will return to the state tomorrow.
Much like yesterday, rain chances across New Mexico are slim to none. Certain models are showing very spotty showers across parts of Central and Southeast New Mexico. However, the most models agree that the state will remain dry today. The heat from yesterday has also carried over to today. Most of Central and Southern New Mexico remain in the 90’s. Roswell broke its previous record high yesterday as well. They have the potential to do the same today as well.
Dry air sticks around New Mexico until Saturday. However, enough moisture will enter the state to allow for spotty mountain showers.
On Sunday an influx of sub-tropical moisture will make its way into New Mexico. This is the result of Tropical Storm Ileana and a low pressure system building over Northern California. This moisture will allow for widespread storms on Sunday and Monday. Most of the state, with the exception of Southern New Mexico, can expect to see rain on Sunday and Monday.
On Monday, the low pressure system moves from Northern California to the Great Basin. This shift in the low pressure will also shift the moisture in New Mexico to the East. The rain chances on Tuesday will follow the moisture. Resulting in Eastern New Mexico having the best storm chances in the middle of next week.
