APS increases patrols at school after child pokes themselves with hypodermic needle 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Public School police are ramping up patrols after an elementary school student poked themself with a hypodermic needle they found on the playground. The incident happened at La Mesa Elementary School in Albuquerque on Tuesday.


Albuquerque teachers ask lawmakers for cooler classrooms

APS said a family member took the child to a medical facility to get checked out. The district added that a custodian does a sweep of the campus every morning but it’s not always possible to find every hazard due to the size of the campus.
