Cooler temperatures continue across New Mexico Today. Even more rain will be impacting the state later this afternoon and into the Evening.
Temperatures across New Mexico this week have returned to seasonably normal temperatures. In some cities like Albuquerque, yesterday’s highs were actually below normal. These cooler temperatures are expected to continue into early next week. If not longer.
New Mexico saw a decent bit of rain yesterday and the trend continues into today. The heaviest rain will be along the mountains. Due to this heavy rainfall the NWS has issued Flood Watches for the Jemez, Sangre de Cristo, and Sacramento Mountains. These watches will be in effect until the evening of August 28th. Additionally, the Salt Burn Scar has as Flash Flood Warning in place until 2:00 p.m. MDT on August 28th.
Rain chances will continue for the state tomorrow. However, they will slightly begin to favor eastern New Mexico. On Friday, a cold front will move into the state and bring heavy rain to the east. Over the weekend drier air begins to move into the state. This could decrease the rain chances on Sunday and into Labor Day.
