SHIPROCK, N.M. (KRQE) – Sunday’s storms caused major problems around Shiprock. The Navajo Nation Police Department said heavy rain caused the canal to overflow east of town which lead to floodwaters crossing over Highway 64.
Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren said 30-40 families along the San Juan River were affected. Some of their homes were destroyed. Others lost power and had issues with their septic systems. Tribal leaders will be in the area offering their assistance and assessing the damage.
