Suspect in Santa Fe murder waives detention hearing in federal carjacking case 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man facing federal charges for carjacking and using a gun to commit a crime in connection to the shooting death of an elderly man in Santa Fe will not fight behind held behind bars on the charges. Zachary Babitz waived his detention hearing in federal court.


Albuquerque man pleads no contest to killing over stolen gun

According to the criminal complaint, Babitz stole 83-year-old Gordon Wilson’s car in a Santa Fe Best Buy parking lot on August 6 after shooting and killing him. Babitz is facing a first-degree murder state charge. He’s also facing armed robbery charges in Las Cruces and is accused of two bank robberies in Albuquerque.
