Deputy-involved shooting kills one in Cibola County 

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Authorities from the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office said there was a deadly officer-involved shooting on Friday, August 16.

Officials said deputies were patrolling routinely near Forest Road 400 in San Fidel around 1:30 a.m. when they encountered two people.


Grant awarded to NMSU professors for misinformation research

Deputies were investigating, and one of the people allegedly presented a threat. The deputies discharged their weapons, and the person was killed.

Cibola County Sheriff’s deputies were not hurt, and New Mexico State Police was contacted to conduct an investigation.
