Very hot and dry weather ahead for New Mexico

New Mexico dries out even more today as very dry air continues to be funneled into the state. The best chances for rain will be in southeast New Mexico later this afternoon.

After today, a high pressure system will move over New Mexico. This paired with the dry air will drastically lower rain chances over the next few days. The mountains could see a spotty shower or two. But the majority of the state will remain dry.

Over the weekend a heat dome will form over New Mexico. This will aid the state in reaching record or near record high temperatures. Areas in southern New Mexico could see multiple day stretches of 100 Degree and above temperatures. Central New Mexico can also expect to reach the triple digits this weekend as well. Without the rain to cool off the state, the hot temperatures will be sticking around into the middle of next week.
